Who are we?
For the past twenty years UPSTARTS has been working with young people and adults to help them achieve their goals in a fun and interactive way.
The original concept of UPSTARTS stemmed from a young people's theatre school and a successful training company. The concept of EMPOWERED training was developed which has resulted in various training courses and a series of personal development programmes that have been used in schools, colleges and business environments.
Many of the original UPSTARTS have gone on to work in the fields of education, recruitment and international business. Other members of the groups have used what they have learnt to influence their own children, achieve their own personal goals and contribute positively to their own communities.
When we describe a person as an UPSTART, it often is deemed to be negative. However we believe to be an UPSTART you must with integrity, empower yourself to empower others so they can to the same.
“Websters New World Dictionary” definition of UPSTART is to start, or spring up. Its definition of EMPOWERMENT is to equip or supply someone with an ability or to positively enable a person.
UPSTARTS and Empowered Training is a synergy of these concepts and quite simply encourages all its participants to be EMPOWERED, get UP and START to take action towards their goals, dreams and aspirations.

Our Staff
All the staff at UPSTARTS & Empowered Training are well experienced professionals in their own fields. Steve Kelly the organisations Executive Director is a qualified teacher, trainer and consultant who has worked in the field of Education and training. He is a Master Practitioner and trainer in Neuro Linguistic Programming and has led numerous training courses and events, both in the UK and abroad. David Curtis the organizations Educational Director has experience both in recruitment and youth and community work as well as experience working both internationally and in the UK .
